Solar panels & battery storage in Sussex, Surrey & Kent

Solar PV and home batteries designed around how you actually use electricity. Store the power your panels make in the day for the evening, charge cheaply overnight, and add a battery to panels you already have. Installed and certified by NAPIT-registered electricians.

Battery storage

Why a battery makes solar pay

Solar panels make most of their power in the middle of the day, when many homes use the least. Without a battery, that spare power is exported to the grid for a few pence. With one, you use it yourself in the evening instead of buying electricity at full price.

Use more of your own solar

Store the daytime surplus and run your home on it after dark.

Charge on cheap tariffs

Fill the battery overnight on a time-of-use tariff, with or without solar panels.

Add to existing panels

We retrofit batteries to most existing solar systems, including older installations.

Backup in a power cut

With the right equipment, chosen circuits keep running when the grid goes down.

Pairs with EV charging

Smart chargers can top up your car from solar or the battery rather than the grid.

Sized properly

We size the battery from your actual usage and tariff, so you don't pay for capacity you won't use.

Solar PV

For homes and for business

  • Bird protection and tidy cable runs
  • Network operator notification and certification handled for you

Commercial & agricultural solar

  • Rooftop arrays for offices, warehouses and factories
  • Ground-mounted arrays for farms and larger sites
  • Commercial battery storage to cut peak-time costs
  • Grid connection applications to the network operator
  • Groundworks and ducting by our own civils team

Batteries need the right location

Home batteries store a lot of energy, so where they go matters. Current guidance steers batteries away from places like lofts and escape routes. We plan the location with you at the survey, before anything is ordered.

  • BS 7671 Section 712Solar PV installed to the part of the wiring regulations written for it.
  • IET Code of PracticeBattery systems designed and installed to the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems.
  • PAS 63100Battery locations chosen with the fire-safety guidance for batteries in homes in mind.
  • Network operatorWe notify or apply to your local network operator, as the system size requires.

What affects the numbers

ItemWhat you need to know
VAT on homesSolar panels and home batteries are currently 0% VAT when a VAT-registered installer supplies and fits them. This is due to run until 31 March 2027.
Selling spare powerThe Smart Export Guarantee pays you for power you export. It needs an MCS-certified installation. Our MCS certification is in progress, and we'll confirm the position when we quote.
Your tariffTime-of-use tariffs with cheap overnight rates make batteries work harder. We'll factor your tariff into the design.
Your usageHomes that are busy during the day, or that charge an EV, tend to see the best returns.

VAT and export rules change. We'll confirm what applies to your home or business when we quote.

FAQs

Common questions

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?

Usually, yes. We check your existing inverter and system, then recommend either a battery that works with it or a hybrid inverter upgrade.

Is a battery worth it without solar panels?

It can be. On a time-of-use tariff, a battery charges overnight at the cheap rate and runs your home through the expensive part of the day. We'll work through the numbers with your actual bills.

Will a battery keep my power on in a power cut?

Only if the system is designed for it. Backup needs suitable equipment and wiring, so tell us at the survey if that matters to you.

Where will the battery go?

Often a garage, utility room or outside wall. We follow current safety guidance on battery locations and agree the position with you at the survey.

Do I need planning permission for solar panels?

Most home roof installations don't, but listed buildings, conservation areas and some flat roofs can be different. We'll flag anything to check before you commit.
