Built for the environment

Marinas are a special location

The wiring regulations treat marinas as a special location, with their own section of BS 7671 (Section 709). Salt water, tidal movement and boats plugging in every day all put extra demands on the installation, and get it wrong and the risks are serious.

  • Designed to Section 709Socket outlets, RCD protection and isolation arranged the way the regulations require for berths.
  • Rated for the conditionsEquipment, enclosures and fixings chosen for salt spray, water and impact.
  • Civils and electrics togetherPiling, ducting and bases built for the electrical installation that follows, under one contract.
  • Rope accessIRATA-trained for work on quay walls and structures where scaffold isn't practical.

FAQs

Common questions

Can you upgrade shore power on an existing marina?

Yes. We survey the existing supply, distribution and pedestals, then plan upgrades in phases so most berths stay in use while we work.

Do you carry out inspection and testing for marinas?

Yes. Marina installations need regular inspection because of the harsh environment. We carry out periodic inspection and testing and provide clear reports with any remedial work priced.

Can you do the marine civils as well?

Yes. McCance Group carries out piling, quay works, concrete repairs and corrosion protection, so civils and electrical packages can sit under one contract.

Where do you work?

We cover the south coast from Southampton to Eastbourne, the Medway, and the Thames corridor from central London out to Tilbury and Southend. We're based in East Grinstead, within easy reach of all three, and take on larger projects anywhere in the UK.
